My spouse isn't as into Creole cooking as I am and there isn't a menu available on the website. Are there less spicy options available on the menu? Po Boys perhaps??
Always a great experience waiting for us here. The food is dynamite, especially the shrimp and grits!
MoreEverything was excellent. I dined with a group of 8 people. And everyone was satisfied with their food. Both the appetizers and entrees were delicious. Also it was such a relaxing atmosphere that we were comfortable sitting, laughing and talking well after the food was all gone. I had the Creole boil and it was extra spicy. I was forewarned though. The corn on the cob in the Creole boil had a deliciously sweet taste. I wonder if they serve the corn on the cob as a side. Also the server was absolutely wonderful. Super attentive and very nice. I will eat here again
MoreFinally made it to Backfin Blues Creole De Graw and I'm so happy we did. The location, the atmosphere, the staff, the service and the food are all top notch! The staff is really accommodating due to all this Covid19 stuff. We never had to ask for anything. They are on the ball and go above and beyond. Our meals were absolutely delicious. From the appetizers to the entrees. Just wish we would have had room for dessert. You must stop and check this place out for yourself. If you leave hungry it is your own fault!
MoreWe love to dine here on Thursday nights because there is live music. Sometimes acoustic sometimes jazz. The service is very attentive and friendly. If you want to dance, there is a small area in front of the band. Locals show up around 8 or 9 PM for a drink and to socialize. Casual but the menu is definately a bit upscale.
MoreAmazing. We went here for brunch on a Sunday. We ordered the crab omelet and shrimp & grits. Don't forget to get the crispy pork belly as a side. Very impressed with this place. The food is extraordinary and the atmosphere is great.Highly recommended!
MoreIf we didn't live in PA, this would be a weekly lunch at the bar spot. Great beers on tap. Pork belly appetizer and gumbo ya-ya awesome!!! Will head back after covid for Sunday brunch and Sunday make your own bloody Mary's!
MoreFirst off the service here is incredible!!!! Our waitress was attentive and made sure our needs were met. The greeter Mike was extremely helpful and super courteous!!! . Now the food!! Food was so dam good. My sister had shrimp and grits with crab cakes I had catfish. So damgdam But that dam fried brussel sprout...omg and I do not like brussel sprout at all. The sauce with it was so yummy. So overall this place is great! Def will go back. And it's not super expensive!
MoreFirst time getting Creole, was delicious. Great duck
Super awesome and the food came out quick all the food was cooked to perfection the place also has a great atmosphere with with a small bar upfront and seating near the bar to watch Sports love the this place. I will definitely be going there often
MoreTheir shrimp and grits are the best that I have ever had.
The oysters were amazing. The coffee was terrific and the sweet potato Tots were a new and sweet cinnamon experience.
MoreVery tasty and excellent service! Will come back <3 In photo we had seafood combo ettouffee and Crowned filet
MoreMy first time here and it was great. Wonderful menu and the waitstaff was patient and helpful with our group. They got all the checks right with no complaints. The beer was delish and the jambalaya was OUTSTANDING! I will definitely return!
MoreNice place and atmosphere. Friendly staff and food is delicious and tasteful. They have half off appetizers during happy hour. I ordered 3 and the portions are huge for the price!
MoreI can't express how much I love their jambalaya. It comes out perfectly spicy and has always been amazing. They also have some pretty good beer on tap, though I'm sure that rotates. Their service is generally pretty quick, and they can accommodate relatively large groups. Their menu is a bit pricey, but the food is definitely worth it, and you're likely to have leftovers!
MoreAmazing food, never had a bad meal here. The service is great, super friendly and personable staff. This place is an absolute treasure.
MoreThe food is good. I had gumbo and a crab cake. Both are delicious. My wife had mushroom ravioli which was fantastic. My father's creole boil looked very good as well. The only reason why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 was the fact that the service was slow. I'm not sure if it was the kitchen that was backed up or the wait staff that was having a rough night. We were waiting for a while for everything (drinks, apps, mains). Our server did say they were short staffed that night. Hopefully it was just an off evening. I would be willing to come back because the food was very good. Hopefully the speed of service improves.
MoreGood food, great service, little pricey. Would go again but not on the regular.
fantastic choices. just right tasds. captured NOLA
The food is delicious!! The people are wonderful! This place has become one of mine and my husbands favorite restaurants.
MoreThe food was amazing with excellent service and strong drinks! We will be back again and again.
MoreOur food was ridiculously good. After a long drive, we wanted a good meal and this food hit the spot. Chefβs gumbo was perfect and crab cakes were tasty. Staff was super nice and accommodated us with such a great meal just before they closed. Thank you!
MoreIncredible, truly amazing spicy Voodoo Shrimp dish!!!A very cozy place to grab a beer and a bite to eat. If you don't look outside to the New England surroundings, you'd feel you are in Louisiana.Be sure to stop by this establishment if in the area, you won't regret it!
MoreDelicious food, quality service and a refreshing relaxed environment. The server was super friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was adorable and on oint with excellent service and she was happy to assist us with food selections as it was our first visit. The food was soooooo good, I mean everything had excellent flavor and we left feeling full, but not heavy and weighed down. Good quality authentic food, an awesome environment with the touch of New Orleans. Another wonderful hidden gem in HDG. We will definitely be back.
MoreGreat creole lunch! I had a cup of French onion soup and blackened lump crab cakes for my main. Wife had the same. We both loved every bit of it. Samantha, our server, too excellent care of us β recommend you ask for her station if you visit!
MoreGreat food and drinks. Love the atmosphere. Service was slow.
Food was amazing! I highly recommend this place
Nice waitress, but she didn't know what a red wine blend was, so I ended up with a regular red. Salt can always be added, but can't be removed. My date's mushroom ravioli was good, but its sauce was too salty. We realized the blackened crab cakes would be salty, due to the blackened seasoning. So, 2 salty dishes. Like salt, hot sauce can be added but not removed. The jambalaya was too spicy for me. If there were 2 bottles of hot sauce on the table, why not let the diner add more, if needed, to a less-spicy base sauce?
MoreThe server was sweet the food was delicious. The service was prompt and the restaurant was clean. The prices were also good for the food and drinks.
MoreThe atmosphere and waitress we had were very nice. We enjoyed our appetizers but the entrees were less than desirable. From too much heat, to ribs being chewy, and stringy mashed sweet potatoes it was not our best experience with food. A warning on how spicy the food is would be my number one complaint. It was barely edible and not appealing to see dark caked on seasoning.
MoreThe presentation was great, the food was great. The atmosphere is friendly. Funny bartenders, incredibly helpful staff (kudos to Hannah), very attentive overall. Don't skip the dessert! It's the kind of restaurant experience you want to have when you go out. I will definitely be going back and highly recommend that others go as well.
MoreBest ribs you'll ever have and the Crawfish fries were amazing. Shrimp and grits were fantastic as well.
MoreExcellent food and plenty of it. One of the few places this far north I can get real Louisiana dishes
MoreI've been to Backfin several times now and continue to go back as a fun place to take visiting coworkers. The food and drinks are great. The ambiance is perfect. The staff are all impressive regarding their knowledge of the complex menu. I have always had very attentive servers. Great place!
MoreMy wife and I frequent both Creole De Graw and the original location in port frequently. In all the years we've come, there has never been a bad experience. The food is always great, and even when they're short staffed or booked out, we've never had to wait very long for our food.Make sure to support their carry out during quarantine! They're completely contactless if you pay over the phone. We just pulled up and they dropped it in the car for us!
MoreFood was amazing! Service was top notch and very attentive... All in all great place.
MoreThis restaurant has a great atmosphere, great beer, great food with generous portions, and is staffed with top-notch people. Came in without a reservation and Chris moved things around and made accomodations for a party of two. Without reservations we had a short wait but was glad not to be turned away. Our waiter, Matt, was personable, attentive, and efficient. We dined upstairs and he was gracious enough to accommodate my request to let us sit in a spot of the restaurant that was tantamount to a private room. Overall, Backfin Blues was a great way to spend the evening and an exemplary dining experience from start to finish. Thanks to Chris for reminding me to leave this review on the way out and Matt for providing a great customer experience the whole time. I hope nothing about this place ever changes.
MoreVisited on a Saturday night 7PM and was seated immediately without reservations. Had special stuffed mushrooms appetizer- excellent and ordered red beans & rice and jambalaya for entrees- both delicious and hot. Attentive pleasant service. All a great experience.
MoreBoth the staff and the other customers make this a welcoming place to go to. I dined in, and Mike was an amazing server/waiter. I did not like a drink, so he made me another free of charge. I'd have to recommend the brunch here! Also the French Onion was a recommendation from another customer!
MoreThe food was very delicious, the wait staff were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back πππ
MoreFresh fantastic food and professional staff
The food was AMAZING! Best shrimp and grits Iβve had in Maryland and I try this dish at every restaurant that serves it. Great addition to Havre de Grace, canβt wait to stop by again!!!
MoreTruthfully amazing. Restaurant week brought us out and I am glad it did. Food and service were both incredible! So glad we found this gem because we will certainly be back.
MoreFriendly staff and great food
Great New Orleans inspired food. Service was very fast and the food was delicious. The server was very knowledgeable and able to provide a lot of guidance on a meal to get.The jambalaya was great as well as the corn side.
MoreMy wife and I visited on 1/19/2020. We have been in the past and loved it but not this time. We were shocked how poor everything was. Our waitress greeted us with "sorry I'm so dirty right now" and had stuff all over her. Things continued to spiral out of control from there. She didn't know it was restaurant week, got our orders wrong, and when the food finally came it was cold. We were also told that the bartender was on the phone for a long time and that's why our drinks were taking so long. It was the twilight zone. Bottom line, for the cost of the food, we expected better service.
MoreGreat spot for a creole dish. Everything was appropriately spiced. I had an excellent smoked Manhattan and they had a great drink selection as well. Menu entrees were leaning toward the pricey side, but not outrageous. Average dish with an added protein is around $28. Will definitely go back again.
MoreGreat food, Mike is a great bartender. The menu isn't your traditional food, I love it.
MoreI had fried shrimp po boy, blackened crabcakes and chefs gumbo. ALL WERE OUTSTANDING! Keep up the good work.
MoreStopped here for a quick bite on our drive to New York. Everyone was nice and the food was excellent. The chef even has his own hot sauce that the server brought out. Really yummy if you like southern New Orleans food. Youβll leave full and happy. The portions were large and worth the price.
